History and mission of Persona Education
The idea of creating Persona Education came to me at a turning point in my life, when my previous business, where I was a partner, was in decline and we were looking for new ideas.
At that time, my father, who had been preparing graduates for entrance exams for 15 years, complained for the first time in many years that he was not getting enough students: he worked one-on-one, usually at home, and always recruited students by word of mouth, because thanks to his high-quality preparation and the fact that he made students fall in love with Ukrainian history, there were always more students than he had hours available, but at that time, many people were leaving with their children to western Ukraine or abroad.
I suggested that he change the format of teaching to group lessons (up to 15 people per group), move online, and gather students from all over the country. The result was impressive: very easily and very cheaply, we gathered 180 students, and I began to think about formats where one cool, high-quality teacher could effectively teach hundreds or even thousands of students, while at the same time freeing teachers from ‘menial work’ so they could do what they love and enjoy the most. The idea of communicating with children, being a support and guide in these difficult times, when children have lost so much due to COVID-19 and the full-scale invasion, was also very important. It is also worth knowing that my parents, my wife and my wife's parents are teachers or lecturers, so the question of the advantages and disadvantages of our education is something I have lived with since childhood and I understand what needs to be done differently.
We began to build a team around these ideas, formulate a clearer mission, vision and principles of work, and continue to move in this direction.
